About NIGHTSTICK™

NIGHTSTICK™ represents the next generation in flashlight design. Developed by Bayco, the leader in LED task lighting solutions, NIGHTSTICK incorporates a one of a kind Flashlight • Floodlight • Dual-light design along with cutting edge LED and battery technology providing high quality, exceptionally reliable illumination in every light. At Bayco the safety of our customers is paramount, that's why we believe that Life Depends On Light.

Flashlight History

The basic design that everyone knows as a flashlight was developed almost 90 years ago. In the past...and even still today, flashlights were limited by the capabilities of bulbs and batteries, material choices, quality of light and the same basic design that every flashlight has used since the 1920s.

A flashlight is essentially a tube containing a battery, a light source, a lens and a switch. When you turn on the switch, light comes out one end of the tube. That design has been basically the same since the very first flashlight was developed almost 90 years ago.

Flashlights produce a conical shaped beam of light with a bright spot in the center and a less bright halo of light surrounding that. When you point a flashlight at a distant object, the center beam allows you to illuminate that object. However, when you point it at a close-in object, the center beam is typically too bright and you have to take the center beam off angle in order to see properly. It's called light blow back. Bottom line, a flashlight uses the wrong pattern of light for close-in work or searching.

Then there's the issue of using a flashlight when you're walking or running. You want to see where you're going, but you also need to see the ground in front of you as you move. This means that you have to alternate between shining the light off into the distance and at the ground in front of you. Imagine how dangerous that would be for someone like a police officer chasing a suspect.

Flashlights are also inherently fragile. They fail due to bulb burn-out or impact. If they use a set of replaceable batteries, they have a higher cost of operation due to the need to replace the batteries periodically. If they are rechargeable, they typically use a Nickel Cadmium (NiCad) battery. NiCads loose their full-charge capacity due to a chemical reaction in the battery known as re-charge memory effect. They have very long charge times and very short run times. And, since they contain toxic heavy metals, disposal creates an EPA issue and expense.

Metal tube flashlights are unbearably cold to the touch in the winter and almost too hot to handle in the summer. Plus, if a metal tube flashlight gets dented, battery removal and replacement is virtually impossible.

These issues are not new, they're just what everyone who's ever used a flashlight has come to live with. Well, the flashlight as we all know it has been changed forever, thanks to Nightstick.

NIGHTSTICK Innovation

After hundreds of face-to-face interviews and more than two years of extensive R & D, Bayco the leader in LED task light innovation, confirmed that a better personal task lighting solution had been found, one with significantly more reliability, better performance, more utility and above all, enhanced personal safety.

The first time you ever look at a Nightstick, you can immediately see the difference. Nightstick is not a flashlight. It's a flashlight AND a floodlight in one light. The user can operate either light independent of the other so that the user has the appropriate pattern of light for whatever the task at hand is. No more compromises. Plus, in Dual-Light mode, both lights can be turned on simultaneously, opening up a virtually endless world of safety and utility functionality.

FLASH-FLOOD-DUAL Light

NIGHTSTICK's light source is all LED for maximum reliability and color of light. Since an LED is not a bulb but rather a semiconductor, there's no filament to burn out or break, even if the light is dropped. All of the LEDs in the Nightstick product line are rated between 35,000 and 50,000 hours, compared to 30 to 40 hours for a conventional bulb.

And with a color temperature of 6500° K (similar to the color of the light coming from the sun), the true white light that's produced, doesn't change the color of an object the way a yellowish conventional flashlight bulb does.

Light color

Once again, NIGHTSTICK raises the standard by using optimized Nickel Metal Hydride (NiMH) batteries to power all of it's rechargeable products. NiMH battery packs have almost twice the energy capacity of a comparable sized NiCad. They have no re-charge memory effect so they can be charged a little or a lot with no adverse effect on the battery performance. They have very short charge times and very long run times, almost the exact opposite of a NiCad. And NiMH batteries are environmentally friendly containing no heavy metals thereby completely eliminating disposal issues.

The Nightstick product line is crafted from a variety of engineered polymer materials. Each having their own special set of properties, from varying levels of moisture resistance (including several models that are water proof), to multiple levels of chemical resistance (including two that are classified as chemical proof), to a line of UL Certified Intrinsically Safe Task lights for extremely hazardous environments, for those times when explosive proof light just isn't good enough.

Tally up all of the innovation, and it's easy to see why the flashlight paradigm has forever been changed, a series of changes protected by multiple patents.

NIGHTSTICK brings together the best and latest in LED, battery, material and design technologies and innovations to create a change in the flashlight industry. A moment in product developmental history that can only be described as the most significant flashlight innovation in 30 years, NIGHTSTICK.
